This process includes both screening and training and is important because:
- It promotes the safety of children, volunteers, and staff.
- It helps you understand and implement the mission of CEF.
- It equips and empowers you to share the love of God and the hope of eternal life in Jesus with children in East Central Iowa.

One step in the Volunteer Application is to view CEF Protecting Today's Child Video. You can access the video above.
2) Background CheckEvery volunteer must complete a background check through CEF (we cannot accept background checks from other organizations). The references you provide on this form may be contacted.
The background check must be completed every five years. However, if there is a gap in volunteer service of one full year or more, you will need to complete the background check. |
Once a volunteer successfully completes the application and background check, the final stage of the Volunteer Cycle will begin. CEF volunteers serve in a variety of roles, therefore, CEF offers different training classes tailored to each ministry area and responsibilities. CEF will provide approved volunteers with information about class options that are specific for each role.
