What is a CYIAer? Raise your hand if you know what it stands for. Christian Youth in Action! Not a Christian Youth who sits and wastes his life on things that don't matter (like video games or working for treasure on earth) and does little or nothing for God each summer. You must be a Christian to be a CYIAer! A "little Christ," an obedient follower of Jesus Christ. I am a Christian, but used to do little for God each summer. That was, until I heard about Child Evangelism Fellowship, and being a CYIAer. Of course you don't have to work for CEF to be a Christian Youth in Action. But I think it's a well worth it to be one, here's why: Number one, it is an opportunity to share the Gospel with many children, and adults too. Jesus died to save mankind, so mankind must hear about Jesus. Number two, it is an opportunity to teach sound doctrine to children (Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy - Prov 28:13, italic added). One time I asked a kid from a "Christian" family what the punishment for sin was and he didn't know! What a shame. We are in dire need of sound doctrine. Thirdly, it is an opportunity to learn how to teach Bible. Teach Bible! (Say it with me) I love it! Being the Bible teacher is a great responsibility but it's also the best. (A CYIAer can be a Bible teacher or a missions teacher or both; both are good but the best is obviously the Bible teacher.) The fourth reason to be a CEF CYIAer is personal growth, that is, spiritual growth and growth from experience. One way I've grown spiritually is my understanding of the Gospel, it is a Gospel of repentance for forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Don't hear me wrong on that. It is a Gospel of the coming Kingdom of God! The restoration of all things! It is the greatest good news! It is the Gospel of peace when all circumstances around are evil. It is true hope that everything will be made good and right no matter how bad life on earth is. One thing I regret not teaching is that God specifically rewards the righteous deeds of His children. He will give us a hundredfold for what we give up for His work on this earth. Whether it be authority, houses, wives (no wives in heaven), children (gain spiritual children), animals, pets, shelter, food, or water, video games, or anything else you can give up to obey Jesus. This year of being a CYIAer, I want work on teaching that important truth. (Heb 11:6 ESV — And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.) Convicted me about that. So yeah, if you're a Christian youth by all means consider working for God this summer with Child Evangelism Fellowship. God can use you to teach the Gospel, sound doctrine, and model obedience to Jesus Christ before the children of this generation. There is training involved with being a CYIAer. If you have any questions about the specifics of being a CYIAer feel free to ask questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. You Can Help George and Others Teach Kids about Jesus!Help cover the costs of training and materials for our local CYIAers. Training Camp in June costs $350 for each student. That includes their ministry materials. 5-Day Club T-shirts with each day's theme (5 shirts for each CYIA/SMAer) cost another $40 per CYIA/SMAer. When you click the "Donate" button above, you'll be redirected to a secure website where you can choose "CYIA materials and training expense" as the purpose for your gift.
