My name is Anna Mei. This was my first summer going to Jericho Hills training, and my first time tasting homemade poptarts. I chose to serve as a CYIAer with CEF because I like working with kids, I love serving with other Christians, and together sharing the gospel I had nothing to be bored about when preparing at Jericho Hills. Time was filled with preparing lessons and IPEARs, eating gummy bears, and listening to lessons and stories. I was learning the summer’s mission story about Amy Carmichael along with Matthew and Lindsey because teaching this story was my role this summer at clubs. One of the most memorable things about this summer was my team and I had great support in the form of volunteers making lunch for us when we were out doing clubs. Between clubs, we would go back to CVBC and play half court or to the Bemenderfers’ house and lie on the couch, chairs, and under the coffee table. Finally, lunch would arrive and be devoured. We then piled into the car and were off to the next club. The time saved was great! We didn’t have to plan lunch or buy it. My personal favorite lunch was made by Mrs Patrilla. It was breakfast buns with seconds of root beer floats. A highlight of the last week of clubs was water day. We played "drip, drip, splash," after that for the missionary story the kids raised enough money to pour water on 3 of us so Matthew, George and I got splashed. Overall it was a great summer filled with unchurched kids hearing gospel maybe for the first time. Almost ⅓ of the kids we reached were unchurched, being able to share the gospel with them was awesome. The sense of accomplishment was not only rewarding but also you know you did something worthwhile with your summer. I also had a great team to back me up. -- Anna Mei Masterson Consider Supporting Anna Mei and other CYIAersHelp cover the costs of training and materials for our local CYIAers. Training Camp in June costs $350 for each student. That includes their ministry materials. 5-Day Club T-shirts for each day's theme (5 shirts for each CYIA/SMAer) cost another $40 per CYIA/SMAer.
