What's the News?
Here you will find updates of what is happening in the CEF Hawkeye Chapter!
We're looking for young people who want to proclaim the name of Jesus and the eternal salvation that can only be found in Him! We're putting together a TEAM of trained youth who want the chance at changing the eternal destiny of children in our community! Over the course of three weeks this past summer, eight teenagers shared the gospel with 101 children, 33 of whom had no regular church home. For some of our teens, it was the first time they shared the Gospel publicly. For many of those children, it was the first time they heard of Jesus and His death and resurrection for their salvation. You too can have a part in reaching the unreached children of Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities! Christian Youth in Action is a specialized training for teenagers ages 14 and older who want to learn how to confidently share the Gospel. (Mature 12- and 13-year-olds can also join as Club helpers, also known as Summer Missionary Assistants.) In early June, CEF of Iowa hosts a week-long training camp near Des Moines, filled with classes that will equip you to use provided CEF materials to share the Gospel in 5-Day Clubs. As you go through the training, you will spend time studying with a small group of teenagers, as well as an assigned team leader who will answer questions and guide you in your studies. Throughout CYIA, you will be challenged through devotions, chapel times, praise and worship, and classes to help you live out your faith and grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. You will be encouraged by the other teenagers from around the state as you work together to make a difference in the world for Christ. Once training is completed, you and your team will return home and spend your summer teaching 5-Day Clubs in your own area! As you share the Gospel with children, their lives will be changed, and you will be built up. 5-Day Clubs are hosted by churches or individuals who invite children from their neighborhood to hear the Gospel. Each day of club lasts for 90 minutes, filled with songs, prayer, memory verses, Bible lessons, games and a missionary story. The Gospel is shared several times throughout the club, in the teaching of the memory verse, the songs, and in the Bible lesson. The Bible lesson teacher gives an invitation each day for children to accept Christ as Savior, as well as a time for each child who responded to the invitation to talk one-on-one with a teacher. That could be you! Want to learn more?
