Treasure Island

GOAL:

• Run around to different points of interest

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Set up:
  • Start children on one side of the field (treasure)

• Play:
  • Yell out, “Island!” - all children start running to the other end
  • After children reach “Island,” begin calling out other code words
  • As soon as you call a code word, all children must immediately do that motion
  • The child that is last to perform the motion is out of the game
  • Children who get out can help call the next code word or judge to see who is the last to perform the motion

• Codes:
  • Treasure: one end of the playing area
  • Island: opposite end of “treasure”
  • Palm Tree: spread arms out from the body and spin
  • Turtle: get on the ground with body tucked in a circle
  • Beached Whale: Lay flat on the ground with body stretched out
  • Swab the deck: get on hands and knees and scrub the ground
  • Row the boat: sit down and pretend to row
  • Pirate: put one hand over eye

• A list of code words that have motions to go with them
