Sharks and Minnows Games

GOAL:

• Try not to get tagged by the Shark

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Set up:
  • Select one child to be “it” this child is the Shark
  • Have all the other children stand on one side of the room or yard these children are the Minnows

• Play:
  • The Shark says “GO!!”
  • The Minnows run to the other side without getting tagged by Shark
  • If a Minnow is tagged he/she joins the Shark
• Win:
  
  • When there is one Minnow remaining the game is over

SEQUENCE:

• Octopus Tag: Minnows that are tagged sit down where they are tagged and try to tag other minnows while sitting
• Wild Horses: Minnows think of a color, if shark says their color, they have to run! (Shark may say “Wild horses” to make them all run)
• Color Tag: The Shark yells out a color, if Minnow is wearing that color he must run
• Ball Tag: Give Shark a ball to tag, if tagged, minnows use their hands to tag others

WHAT YOU NEED:

• Ball for “Ball tag”
